Yes. A packed gutter is one of the quieter ways a Lakeland roof starts leaking. Water that cannot leave the trough climbs back under the shingles at the drip edge. The stain shows up on the ceiling weeks later, usually a few feet from the actual entry.

How a clog becomes a leak
Oak litter, pine needles, and shingle grit pack into a solid layer. Downspouts stop. The next afternoon storm fills the trough. Water sits against the fascia and the roof edge.
From there you get:
- Water under the first row of shingles
- Rot in the fascia
- Overflow down the siding
- A ceiling stain that looks like a pipe-boot leak
We still check the roof. A clogged gutter and a failed boot can show up on the same house. Roof leak repair is a different job if the water is coming through flashing, not the edge.
What a True Roofers cleaning includes
We scoop the packed layer by hand. We flush the downspouts. We check pitch so water actually moves. If a section is bent, pulled loose, or pitched the wrong way, we say so. Another scoop will not fix that. That is gutter installation.

When cleaning is not enough
Gutters that sag, leak at the seams, or dump at the corners need new material. Seamless aluminum sized to the roof plane lasts longer than a cheap sectional trough. We install it, then you can put cleaning on a schedule.
If the roof edge is already soft, we stop and show you. That can turn into roof repair before new gutters go up.
Gutter stain or a pipe-boot stain
The ceiling does not label the source. Location does.
A gutter backup usually stains near an outside wall, under the eave, or along the fascia line. The paint bubbles a foot or two in from the exterior. The attic insulation along that wall is wet and the middle of the attic is dry. Outside, the trough is packed, the downspout is silent in the rain, or you can see a brown line where water has been spilling over the face.
A pipe-boot leak usually sits under a plumbing vent or a bath fan, often toward the middle of a room, not the outside wall. The shingles around that boot may look fine from the yard. We still open the question on the roof, because a packed gutter and a split boot show up on the same Lakeland house after oak season.
If you are not sure which one you have, start with the free roof inspection. Guessing and caulking the stain from inside leaves the water on the deck.
What we look at while the trough is empty
Pitch. A gutter that holds a puddle after we flush it is pitched wrong or the hangers have pulled. Seams on sectional troughs that drip at every joint. Spikes that have walked out of the fascia. Fascia that is soft where the overflow has been hitting it for a summer. A downspout that dumps against the foundation instead of away from it.
Seamless aluminum, sized to the roof plane, is the replacement when the metal is done. Another scoop does not straighten a sag or close a split seam. If the roof edge under the gutter is soft, new hangers go into rot. We stop and show you that wood before gutter installation and, when the deck edge is involved, before roof repair.
What one cleaning does not fix
A scoop and a flush move the water that is sitting there today. They do not replace a trough that is undersized for a long Lakeland ranch, and they do not repair shingles the overflow already lifted. If we pull a packed layer out and the first course of shingles is curled, brittle, or wet underneath, that is a roof item on the same note as the gutter. Leaving it and “seeing if the cleaning holds” is how the stain comes back on the next hard rain.
Downspouts matter as much as the trough. A clear gutter that dumps at the foundation, or into a bed of oak leaves against the slab, sends the water into the ground at the wall. Splash blocks and an open outlet are part of the visit. Buried drains that we cannot flush from the top get named. We do not dig up a yard drain and call it a gutter cleaning.
Screen-enclosure gutters on a lanai are a different trade and a different company. If the overflow is on the house roof edge, it is this crew. If it is the cage, say so on the call so we do not book the wrong ladder.
