A Tropical Storm Is Coming: How True Roofers Gets Ready

Central Florida · Storm & Emergency

Johnny filmed this one as a tropical system was rolling in on Central Florida: the guys are getting ready right now, and the team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A leak, a tarp, shingles that have flown off, water damage: we are available for you, and we got you covered.

Your pre-storm roof checklist

Hurricane season runs June through November in Florida, and most storm-week roof panic is preventable with an hour of attention before the weather arrives.

  • Look at the roof from the ground with binoculars: lifted, creased, or missing shingles are the pieces the storm will finish removing
  • Clear gutters and downspouts so the water that falls has somewhere to go besides under your eaves
  • Trim branches that overhang the roof; most puncture damage starts as a limb that was always going to fall
  • Photograph your roof and ceilings NOW: a dated "before" picture makes any later claim dramatically cleaner
  • If your roof already leaks, get it tarped or repaired before the storm, not after it grows

After the storm passes

Check ceilings and the attic for new stains, walk the yard for shingle pieces and metal, and shoot photos of anything you find before touching it. If water is coming in, a tarp is the immediate move, and documentation is the second one: insurers pay on evidence, and the paper trail starts with your first photo. Then have the roof inspected even if the house looks fine inside, because wind damage that will leak in October does not always leak in the week the storm hit.

FAQ

Common questions

The answers Central Florida homeowners ask us most often.

Do you offer 24/7 emergency roof repair?
Yes. True Roofers responds 24/7 across Central Florida to roof problems that cannot wait, including storm damage, active leaks, and emergency tarping. Call (813) 800-1800 any time, or reach our 24/7 inspection line at (863) 880-2041 after a storm, and we dispatch from there.
How quickly can you get to my home?
We dispatch 24/7 from three offices across Central Florida (Lakeland, Plant City, and Auburndale), so a roofer is never far away. Storm emergencies are prioritized, same-day inspections are often available, and you get a clear arrival window when you book.
What happens when I call?
You talk to a real person, describe the problem, and get an arrival window. A roofing specialist inspects your roof for free, documents the damage with photos, and quotes the exact price before any work starts. If the damage is storm-related, we handle the insurance claim for you, start to finish. Nothing begins until you approve it.
How does pricing work?
Upfront and in writing. The inspection is free, you get the full price before any work begins, and that price does not change mid-job. True Home members also get 5% off every repair and priority scheduling.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Lakeland, Plant City, Winter Haven, Wesley Chapel, Auburndale, Davenport, and the surrounding communities across Hillsborough, Polk, and Pasco counties.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. We partner with Enhancify to finance projects from $500 to $250,000 on approved credit, with terms up to 144 months through its lending partners. You can prequalify in about a minute with no impact to your credit score.
Are there any discounts or plans?
The True Home Membership covers your roof, plumbing, and HVAC for $24.99 a month: annual inspections, 5% off every repair, priority scheduling, and priority storm response. Financing is also available on bigger jobs.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. True Roofers is a fully licensed and insured Florida roofing contractor, license CCC1332725. Every crew that works on your roof works under that license.
